NEW COACHING PROGRAM TOPIC: Beyond Bullying

Bullying can happen in the workplace in many ways. Sometimes it’s obvious, but more often it is seen in subtle ways. In either case, it can be viewed as an abuse of power, which if persistent can have devastating effects on the work environment when not addressed and properly understood.

Dr Marilyn Aitkenhead, has worked with both the bullied and those accused of being bullies. While one in 10 bullies may be pathologically manipulative types, most, she says, can be taught to realize, that their exercise of power can be experienced as abusive by others at work.

In this Coaching Ourselves topic Dr. Aitkenhead explores four common types of bullying behaviours and helps participants understand the underlying psychological needs that drive them. Managers will learn how to spot early signs of bullying and how to deal with and support people who exhibit these patterns. In this session we take a deeper look into human behaviour, making us more effective and compassionate managers.

Dr. Marylin Aitkenhead is an organizational psychologist and cognitive behavior therapist with over 20 years of experience in consulting, leadership coaching and, teaching, research and clinical practice.
