How does it work?
Participants learn through reflection and discussion on recent managerial experiences during purposeful learning meetings, usually every second week for about 90 minutes, with colleagues, peers, or direct reports.
Each meeting focuses on a specific managerial topic, such as High Performing Teams and Strategic Thinking As Seeing, prepared for CoachingOurselves by a world-renowned management authority such as David Ulrich, Philip Kotler, John Seely Brown, Marshall Goldsmith, and Henry Mintzberg. Topics provide conceptual content, and the agenda to drive discussions around managerial experiences and develop actions for change.
Over fifty topics are grouped around a variety of themes such as Basic Management, Engaging People, Establishing Strategy, and Venturing & Innovating. Groups can pick one at a time or follow a theme relevant to their organization's specific needs.
In CoachingOurselves there is no pre-work or homework: it all happens during the sessions. The only requirement is a print out of the topic and a pen -- no laptops. The group of managers works through each topic without the help of external facilitators or trainers. A sense of community develops in these teams, which can become major catalysts for change in their organization.
